DRILL: 5 Ball Inside Shooting
Inside shooting drill off of passes.
THIS DRILL HIGHLIGHTS:
Finishing in front of cage
Fakes
Moving across the cage
DESCRIPTION:
Each of the 5 hash marks will have a player and ball. One player is inside the 8m, 2m’s off the crease. Hash 1 passes to the inside player who is moving towards them, catches, fakes and shoots. They quickly turn and receive a pass from hash 2. This continues until all 5 hash marks have passed. A1 then becomes a shooter and everyone rotates over a hash mark.
Variations: Add the 2 floating hash marks for a total of 7 shots. Change the passing pattern.
EQUIPMENT:
Balls, Cage, possible goalie.
HIGHLIGHTED SKILLS:
Inside finishing, faking, shooting around the goalie
KEY COACHING POINTS:
Players are using both hands
Faking - work on deception and ball placement
Wrist shots - inside shooting comes from snappy wrists
Catch and quickly turn towards cage
Creativity - add in fun shots!
