Spotlighting: Chris Kryjewski πŸ₯

πŸ₯

Chris was hired as the Head Coach at Castle Park High in San Diego in 2015, and has been the head coach for the last 9 years and running. His first season was 2016, they went 0-17 and 2-15 his first two years. Every year they continued to get better and by his fourth year as head coach they were 10-8 and finished in second place in our league!

In 2020 they were optimistic they would win the league, but unfortunately the year was cut short due to COVID. They came back in 2021 finished 7-9 and were league champions! In 2021 and 2022, the school didn’t have a JV team which created a tough transition causing a bit of a dip in 2022. However, in 2023, Castle Park High finished 13-8 and went to the playoffs the first time in school history! πŸ™Œβ

In Chris’ 9 years, he has rebuilt the program not once, but twice. The second time they did it in two years. Castle Park High School program has had colleges recruit their program since 2018 at a 85% level. They have sent three players to play at the next level.

Not only is Chris a Varsity Head Coach, he also owns a club program called South Bay Vipers, which he started it November of 2021. They have already sent 6 players to college level in their 2 seasons!

Chris never played or coached lacrosse before he was hired. He originally jumped on this job because there was zero foundation and he said, β€œIf I can take a program that is new and my non-experienced lacrosse background into a winner in a certain amount of time it should make me a high candidate for a football head job.” However, Chris has been retired from football since 2021 and lacrosse is now his full focus!

πŸŽ‰Since coaching lacrosse, Chris has been honored with multiple accomplishments:

  • 2X coach of the year in the Metro Conference

  • 1X US Lacrosse COY for San Diego Region

  • League Champion

  • Under Armor All American Assistant Coach West Region

  • Invited to Coach the tryout camp with the Polish National team

Chris currently has applications to some international teams and is continuing his career with his club team and high school team.
