  • Shooting, 8Ms

  • Draw Control Work

  • Ground Balls

Description:

Split your team into two competitive teams.  The purpose of this drill is to cover special situations very quickly in a competitive setting.  There are three phases: Draw Controls, Ground Balls inside the 8m, and Free Positions Shots. Each point in the first two phases represents an earned Free Position Shot.

  1. 15 Draw Controls: The two full teams draw against each other and the first team to cross their attacking restraining line gets a point.

  2. 15 GBs inside the 8M: Set up a 4v4 inside the 8M.  It can start as a groundball from the coach or a deflected shot from the goalie.  To get a point the team must get a CLEAN ground ball. A foul results in a point for the other team.

  3. Free Position Shots: Each team now gets free position opportunities based on their score from the previous two games. Make sure the teams alternate shooting.  You can add defense, require shots from certain hashes, or let the teams choose.
