4 Point Hot Shot
It is a drill to develop attackers to be a threat with both hands when shooting!
Description of Drill: This shooting drill works on shooting in the 8m with both hands. Balls are at each of the four outside cones with feeders. One player starts on the right side of the goal line extended. She cuts over the top of the middle cone to receive a pass right-handed from X1, turns, and fakes before she shoots. She resets on the left side goal line extended, then cuts over the top of the middle cone to receive a pass left-handed from X2, the same shot as before. She resets back to the right goal line extended. She cuts over the top of the middle coned to receive a pass right-handed from X3, this time shooting a quick-stick. Last is a reset to the left side goal line extended, cut over the top of the middle cone to receive a pass left-handed and a quick-stick shot. This ends with one rep for one shooter.
Some variations include switching up the shooting order and adding a defender on the back of the cutter to work on stick protection as they shoot in the 8M.
Equipment Needed: 5 cones, balls at the 4 outside cones, one goal
Skills Emphasized: Catching and shooting on the move with both hands inside the 8M
Coaching Points of Emphasis: For the shooter, there is a big emphasis on catching on the move with the correct hand. As they reset, ensure they hustle to the spot and quickly get the next cut going. For the feeders, work on timing and passing so the cutter receives the ball as they are coming around the cone.
