Pentagon Drill

This is a team favorite!

This Drill Highlights:

  • Precise Passing

  • Timed Cuts

  • Defensive Slides

Description:

Set up 5 cones in the shape of a pentagon, about 10 yards apart. Put a 6th cone in the center of the pentagon. At each outside cone, there will be an offensive player. There will be 4 defensive players inside the pentagon. Offense is required to stay on their β€œline.” Their line runs from the center cone to the outside cone they started on (see diagram). Offense is trying to touch the center cone with the ball in their stick. They can do this by cutting in (on their line) to receive a pass and drive in with the ball. The ball should be moving fast on the outside of the pentagon to keep the defense shifting.

Defense will keep communicating through the drill, shifting and sliding to properly mark the ball.
