Fast Break Chaos
A game-like situation that you can control.
This Drill Highlights:
Decision Making
Fast Breaks
Conditioning
Man up/Man down Situations
Description:
Start with 7 defenders and 7 attackers. Everyone sprints to a cone (any cone - this is random). The drill begins with a goalie clear to the coach who throws a ground ball out for everyone to fight for.
Attackers: Look to push the ball, attack the cage, get in before the defense gets settled. Keep your head up, go hard to the defense and look to create quick scoring opportunities. The main goal for the attackers is to play fast and take a lot of shots. Take risks (not always pretty!).
Defenders: Look to get in, stop the ball and create a settled situation. Communicate early and often and make quick decisions. Constantly assess and reassess the situation. The main goal for the defenders is to stop the fast break.
Goalie Save: Defenders will clear it out.
Wide Shot: Play is over.
Ball goes out of bounds: Play is over.
When the play is over everyone sprints back to a cone. Repeat.
