Rachel is from Ocean Township, New Jersey and was was a multi-sport athlete (soccer, winter track, lacrosse) and an athlete her whole life. She started officially playing lacrosse her freshman year of high school… there were no teams for the younger age group in her town! She ended up playing on a travel team and got recruited to play at the University of New Haven. Rachel played defense for the Chargers as a four-year starter. 🥍

🎉 Her biggest accomplishment was becoming an All-American and when she was named the NE-10 Defensive Player of the Year her senior year! 🎉

Since college, she has coached so many lacrosse teams and lax stayed a huge part of her life since then. Rachel started coaching during grad school up in Milford, CT helping out with a middle school team. Once she moved back home to NJ, she got a job teaching 2nd grade in Millstone and coached for Wall Youth Lacrosse (rec team) and coached their 4th, 5th, and 6th, grade teams for a couple seasons!

She then moved to Florida in 2016 (teaching kindergarten) and became the assistant varsity coach at Dr. Phillips High School for 2 seasons and also coached the Storm Select Lacrosse travel team. Then, she moved back to NJ teaching kindergarten in Middletown, NJ and got offered an assistant and JV coaching job at Middletown North High School.

In 2019 she found her home at Howell Township, teaching kindergarten and coaching at the Ranney school. Currently she’s teaching 2nd grade. Rachel says she feels SO lucky to have the opportunity to be able to both teach and coach. She has been at The Ranney School now for 5 years, 4 as the assistant and now this year as the head coach!! This position is temporary while the normal head coach trains with the Latvian National Lacrosse Team in the European Championship! “While the head coach position is temporary, I am excited to step up to it for this year.”

Also, since 2019 she has been a youth coach for the All Lax Select travel team. She typically coaches their rising 4th/5th graders! Rachel is also a CrossFit coach at Fitness By The Sea in Avon, NJ and got married last year to her husband Tim!

AND Rachel just published her first children’s book, A New Sport: Rosie’s Lacrosse Story on April 2nd!!! She is so excited to share this book with the lacrosse community. “I just hope that people will love the book and use it to grow the game!  I’m going to have my players read it to the elementary school kids and get them involved.  I’m also going to read it to some local lacrosse teams. It’s so important to introduce kids to the sport at an early age.. I had no idea what lacrosse was until 8th grade!!  📚

Rachel also has a website, coachrachel4.com where she has been interviewing female athletes and getting their story about how sports have had a positive impact on their lives!
